MEET THE STAFF!

Phil Franklin (Owner) - Phil has been in the company of dogs since he was born. Today he lives with Sara, a 9-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier he adopted from the Dallas SPCA. Sara claims she is a pure bred, but Phil thinks there's some couch potato in there. Prior to becoming the owner of Let's Practice, Phil spent 18 years in the real estate industry, 14 years as an attorney and the last 4 years as a landlord. His goal in owning Let's Practice is to let the community know this is the finest facility for dog training and day care in the Plano and North Dallas area. Phil’s personal interests include walks with Sara at White Rock Lake, crossword puzzles and cooking.

MEET OUR TRAINERS!

Susan Strough (Behavior Specialist) Susan is originally from Oklahoma where her father fostered her love for dogs. In addition to the companionship she enjoyed with her father's hunting dogs, she was given her very own dog at the age of 9. This unwitting Cocker Spaniel would be her first client. After attending college Susan moved to Dallas looking for career opportunities. She found it in the dog-loving people of Dallas. She began her career as a trainer and behavior specialist six years ago and has never looked back. It was after working with homeless dogs in foster care that she realized the need for people to understand these animals so that they could get the second chance they needed. Susan's greatest joy is teaching people how to live in harmony with their pets. Susan lives in the North Dallas area with her husband and their three dogs. For more on Susan, visit her web site.

Verjean Lunenschloss Verjean has been involved with dogs, literally, her whole life. Her father had Boxers and Cocker Spaniels when she was growing up, and she got her "own" dog at the age of seven. That dog, a little mixed breed…was to live until the age of nineteen and was her first experience in dog training! Verjean has a varied background in dogs…having trained in Obedience, Schutzhund, Therapy, Field, and most recently, Conformation. She has experience with several breeds, having owned GSD's, Shar-Pei, Bearded Collies, Old English Sheepdogs, Weimaraners, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Great Danes, and Chinese Pugs She is heavily involved in both the "sport" and the "joy" of dogs and proudly lists her current associations:

Great Dane Club of Greater Dallas
- President, Club Photographer
Trinity Valley Weimaraner Club - President, Club Photographer
Trinity Valley Shih-Tzu Club - Founding member
Greater Collin Kennel Club - Board Member at Large, CGC Coordinator, Rescue Parade Chairman, Membership Committee, Sunshine Committee.
Great Dane Angel Network - Member, AKC affiliated rescue - Great Danes
North American Shar-Pei Rescue - Member, AKC affiliated rescue - Chinese Shar-Pei

Her passion is helping the owner/handler develop the confidence and skills necessary to compete in today's "show" ring. She has several clients, with their very first show dog, who have either completed their championships this year…or are very close. She also trains junior handlers. In addition, she handles dogs on a limited basis. This year, she has finished an Australian Shepherd for a client, and put International titles on five dogs in two weekends. Her own Great Dane holds both American and International Championships. He is a multiple BOB winner, with Group placements. Verjean has also begun showing in field events with her Weimaraners. ALL of Verjean's dogs, regardless of pedigree (she has two rescue dogs…) have obtained their CGC's. Verjean is a huge supporter of the owner/handler…and her goal is to bring more owner/handlers into the sport, and to help them be competitive and successful. Her skills with both dogs and people translate into confidence and knowledge in whatever field of endeavor those competing wish to pursue.
