OUR CLASSES

Let's Practice obedience programs provide fun, encouragement, and practical training for improving how dog owners responsibly train and treat their pets. With positive methods, specific explanations, and gentle yet effective behavior control, the life-long person/dog relationship will be one of the greatest experiences of both of your lives.

Canine Companion Obedience and Behavior - Level 1

In this class, students will learn how to teach their dogs the commands sit, down, stay, come, heel, and leave it.  The first 45 minutes of class will be instructed.  The last 15 minutes is saved for canine and human socialization and for Q&A related to canine behavior.  Students should not bring their dogs to the first day of the Level 1 class.  This class is appropriate for puppies (minimum age 3 months old) and dogs of all ages who have not yet learned the aforementioned commands.

With proper training, "Bad dog!" may never be heard again.

Canine Companion Obedience and Behavior - Level 2

In this class, students will use the commands they learned in Level 1 to put them to practical use.  The test items for the AKC's Canine Good Citizen evaluation is used for the criteria.  No time for socialization is set aside in this class.  Instead, students work on skills that will allow them to work as a team with their dog.  The prerequisite for this class is Canine Companion Obedience and Behavior - Level 1 or a similar class taken through a different instructor or school.  Students should have an understanding of sit, down, stay, come, and heel to succeed in this class.  Dogs are expected to attend the first day of the Level 2 class.

Without proper training, even small
dogs can cause big headaches.

Conformation - Verjean Lunenschloss offers formal handling classes for puppies and beginners, as well as open (drop-in) classes. The formal class concentrates on teaching the ins and outs of breed show. Designed to be fun for you and your future prizewinner, it is open to all breeds. The drop-in class is the equivalent of "show & go" for obedience enthusiasts, is pay-as-you-go, and best suited for the show dog or handler with experience who needs polishing for the ring. That said, it's also a good socialization setting for the non-confident show dog or handler. This class replicates the ring experience. FYI, there is not as much individual instruction as in the formal handling class.
