Who we are:
To the peoples of old Europe, the craft of making bread was a time honored tradition passed down through the generations.
Unfortunately, the industrial revolution changed that tradition. Machines replaced craftsmen. Prepackaged yeast replaced natural leavenings. And conveyor belts replaced the hearthstone. The result: a not so wonderful wonder bread.
What we've discovered in our brief nine-year history is that people still want high quality bread made by traditional means. At Marvelous Market, we do things the old way. We have craftsmen who mix and shape bread by hand. We use natural leavening and stone milled grains. We use a hearthstone oven imported from France.
We use the same care and patience to make rustic pastries and desserts and in all our cooking. Our kitchen produces soups, salads, entrees and sandwiches using the best ingredients that we can find.
To compliment these made-from-scratch offerings, we have brought together a selection of our favorite farmhouse cheeses, cured olives, extra virgin olive oils, aged vinegars and old fashioned preserves. We sell only certified Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee.
We've tried to take a giant step backward before taking our first step forward. We try to let the past be our guide. We make virtually everything we sell and try to make simple foods packed with flavor. Not too many moving parts. We don't try to be something we aren't. No frills or fuss. Just good bread, good food and good people.
Antipasto. Smoked turkey breast, kalamata olive spread roasted red peppers, goat cheese and mesclun salad mix on a Flute baguette.
Berkeley. Brunch Avocado, havarti cheese, Mache, onions and cucumbers on Multigrain bread.
Bistro Roast Beef. Roast Beef, watercress, tomato, mayonnaise, and horseradish on a Parisian baguette.
Caprese. Lightly roasted tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, olive oil, pesto (with walnuts), on a Ficelle baguette.
Classic Roast Turkey Roast turkey breast, romaine lettuce, mayonnaise, white bread.
C.L.T. Grilled chicken breast and mesclun salad with sun dried tomato vinaigrette.
Guilt-free. Turkey Smoked turkey breast and fat free slaw.
Ham and Swiss. Old-fashioned wood-smoked country ham, imported Swiss, romaine lettuce with horseradish mustard on rye bread.
Hudson Valley. Inspired by the Hudson Valley of New York, famous for both its apple orchards and farmhouse cheeses. Slices of Granny Smith apples and Brie cheese accented with toasted pine nuts and served on a Ficelle baguette.
Jambon Beurre. Imported French ham thinly sliced with a spread of sweet butter and cornichons on our crusty Parisian baguette.
Jambon Brie. Imported French Brie and imported French ham on a Parisian Baguette.
Marvelous Chicken Salad. Chunks of roasted marinated chicken breast, granny smith apples, toasted walnuts, scallions, celery, and romaine lettuce with fresh mayonnaise dressing.
Marvelous Club. Grilled chicken breast, caramelized onions, bacon, romaine lettuce, and mustard vinaigrette on either sourdough, rosemary or olive sandwich bread.
Marvelous Italian Hero. Imported Sapresatta, Mortadella, Coppa ham, Provolone with a sweet and hot roasted pepper salad on a Striatta baguette.
Marvelous Tuna Salad. White meat tuna with mixed fresh vegetables and fresh mayonnaise dressing with romaine lettuce.
Sienna. Sun dried tomato pesto, handmade mozzarella and arugula salad on foccacia .
